How we adapted the recordings
V20 uses short, dry concrete bounces and lighter outdoor sneaker contacts. Cuts use the friction/sole-release portions of Joseph Sardin’s outdoor concrete footsteps instead of long rubber squeaks. The NYC outdoor bed has wider bandwidth at a lower level. Detailed envelopes, filters and excerpt boundaries are in the manifest.
The V18 dunk impact adds a slowed, low-pass filtered layer from reedhos’s rim recording, balanced and faded for a deeper slam.
Short excerpts were trimmed, filtered, converted to mono (except the stereo neighborhood bed), dynamics-controlled, level-balanced and faded. Ball and shoe clips use subtle pitch and volume variation during play. The ambience was filtered and crossfaded into a loop. Voices are recordings of human performers; no voices were cloned.
Freesound audio was obtained from its public high-quality MP3 previews; the BigSoundBank source was a WAV. Detailed excerpt boundaries, source URLs and file hashes are included in the audio manifest.
